About Fanlistings

A fanlisting is a web clique that lists fans of a particular subject. Fans from around the world submit their information to their approved fanlisting and they are then listed to show their love for the subject.

For more information, check out TFL101. You can find more fanlistings (or apply to run your own) at both TheFanlistings.org (the biggest fanlisting directory, since they started the trend) and AnimeFanlistings.org (TFL's anime-centered offshoot).

About Monou Fuuma

Fuuma is a character in the manga and anime series X (or X/1999, as it is known in English) by the popular manga circle CLAMP. Fuuma is either the main antagonist, or a second protagonist in X, depending on how you look at him.

He's a wonderfully complicated character, and in my opinion often misunderstood. I'd love to get into why that is at length here, but we'd be here all day, so instead I'll point anyone interested to As You Wish, my shrine dedicated to Fuuma, where you can find much more in-depth information.

As of March 2006, Fuuma has also appeared in CLAMP's current series Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle... along with most of the cast of X, so do check out recent installments if you, like so many of us, are suffering from withdrawals since X went on hiatus. The first chapter where Fuuma appears in TRC is 110, which will be part of volume 15.

About "Wish For Change"

This site opened on April 13th, 2006. I've been making fanlistings since 2003, and Fuuma was actually the first one I ever applied to run... sadly, I didn't get him back then. I was finally approved to run his fanlisting on March 18th (same week he appeared in Tsubasa, oddly enough) and needless to say, this fanlisting is now the crown of my FL collective, since he's my favorite character. ^.~

The name of the site, Wish For Change, has several meanings. First of all, I just had to have the name reference what I consider to be one of Fuuma's distinctive characteristics, the ability to see everyone's innermost wish, and his tendency to try to grant said wish. In addition to that, back when he "awoke" as the 'Kamui' of the Dragons of Earth, Fuuma said that "the Earth is wishing for a change" and that that was why he and the other DOE were trying to destroy civilization: to bring about a change that would save the Earth from being destroyed by humans.

The final layer of meaning to the name, and the most personal for me, is that even though we don't know for certain what ultimately motivates Fuuma, he keeps giving us clues as to the nature of his wish; and I personally am convinced that his wish is for the future to not be predetermined (the supposed inevitability of fate, and whether or not the characters can ever break free of fate, is a running theme in X). Granted that this is just speculation, but if I'm right, then Fuuma himself would be "wishing for a change".
